Jerzy G., former president of Zabrze was sentenced by the District Court in Katowice to 25 years in prison for killing in 2008, Lech F. – creditor, to whom he owed a few hundred thousand.
During the hearing were also sentenced three others to terms of 15 years imprisonment.
The president of Zabrze in the years 2002-2006, has consistently pleaded not guilty. The other accused strongly denied before the court, to kill the creditor. They claimed, however, that acted on behalf of the former president of Zabrze, who ordered them to kidnap and bind the bailiff with whom he came into the forest Wymysłowie (District Będziński). The former president of Zabrze claimed before the court that it did not know the other defendants.
According to the prosecution, George G. was unable to repay the debt, which was owed to the bailiff. Before the court the former president of Zabrze did not deny that he owed Lech F. total of 800 thousand. zł, including interest. Creditor took his salary and a house in Zabrze.
The investigation in this case was circumstantial and complicated, including by the lack of witnesses.
The judgment is not final. This was the second trial in the case. Previous ruling overturned the Court of Appeal in Katowice.
