President Andrzej Duda awarded posthumously to the former deputy prime minister and finance minister prof. Life Gilowska Grand Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Polish in recognition of outstanding achievements undertaken for the benefit of the country of operation of the state and the public. Zyta Gilowska his political career began in Swidnik, where he lived most of his life. She was a city councilor and then as one of the leading figures of the Civic Platform, was the deputy of the Parliament on behalf of the party in the years 2001-2006.
After leaving the PO in an atmosphere of scandal (related to accusations of nepotism and hiring close in his parliamentary office – ed.), Gilowska was a deputy prime minister and finance minister in 2006-2007 in the government of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz.
in the elections in 2007, he obtained a parliamentary seat from candidate already in the list of Law and Justice. With perform its function resigned a year later.
In 2010 was appointed to the composition of the Monetary Policy Council by President Lech Kaczynski. 2013 has been canceled for this position by President Komorowski, after resignation.
Gilowska was actively working professor at the Catholic University of Lublin and since October 2015 been a member of the National Development Council.
She died 5 April following a long battle with illness. She was 66.
