“New Europe Origins”. Congress of Gniezno with the participation … – Cable Republic

Today in Gniezno begins a three-day congress, which is the largest meeting of people of different religions Central and Eastern Europe. The theme Gniezno is “New Europe Origins”. The special guest is the president Andrzej Duda.

As described organizers’ renewed Congresses Gniezno at the beginning of the twenty-first century, an important meeting place for Christians from Central and Eastern Europe who, through discussions, workshops, prayer and artistic events express their responsibility for the future of the Church, his homeland and our common continent. ” “Congresses are organized in Gniezno – cradle of Polish Catholicism and the first Polish capital” – further describe the creator of the meetings.

The mission of the meetings is to engage in dialogue, both believers and unbelievers in the name of the common good of society as a whole.

the three-day international meeting is also the official beginning of the celebration of the 1050 anniversary of the baptism of Polish.

a special guest at the Congress of Gniezno is the president Andrzej Duda, who spoke during the commencement of the meeting. The President thanked for the invitation and noted the essence of achieving this kind of forum. As pointed out by Duda, participated in a meeting for him is an honor not only because of the company gathered guests, but also because of the great tradition to which they refer participants of the meeting.

Andrzej Duda also stressed the importance of Christianity in the development of Polish and its current functioning. He explained that the introduction of Christianity means the introduction of certain principles not only in the lives of individuals, but also in social life, which allows it to organize.

Duda also stated that repeated struggle for freedom, which won the Poles, is bound with a “sense of freedom” offered by, among others, Christianity. – We have regained our freedom, because she was always in us. We were, and we deeply believe that we, free men (…) is a matter of the internal sense, whether it is a free man or a slave – said the President. – This freedom means that you can do what you want, but it also means responsibility – he added.

After the ceremony in Gniezno, the president will visit the exhibition at the Museum of the Origins of the Polish State. It is also planned a meeting with superiors and representatives of Christian Churches participating in the Congress and in the afternoon Andrzej Duda visit Mielżyn, where he will meet with the locals.
