He’s dead Archbishop Janusz Bolonek, Apostolic Nuncio senior – said on Thursday Lodz Metropolitan Curia. According to the statement published on the website of the Archdiocese of Lodz, Archbishop died suddenly on March 2 at the age of 78.
The priest held the office of Apostolic Nuncio in many countries on different continents, and since his retirement he lived in Lodz.
Born in Huta Dłutowskiej k.Pabianic year before the outbreak of World War II. He was ordained in 1961. Ten years later he was appointed by Pope Paul VI to the Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature in Nicaragua. After four years, she went to her counterpart in Washington, DC, two years later represented the Vatican in Egypt. In the years 1979 -1989 worked in the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, where appointed by Pope John Paul II.
In 1989, he was elevated to the dignity of archbishop. Then he held the office of Apostolic Nuncio in Ivory Coast and pronuncjusza in Niger and Burkina Faso (1989-1995), Romania (1995-1998), Uruguay (1999-2008), Bulgaria (2008-2013) and at the same time in Bulgaria and Macedonia ( 2011-2013).
the funeral will begin on Saturday, mourning a Mass in the Basilica Archcathedral in Lodz. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Sunday in the parish church in Dłutowie k. Pabianic, then held a funeral in the parish cemetery.
