INTERVIEW WITH MATTHEW HŁADKIM “Television is like a drug” – Gala.pl (press release)

With 23 years after the first time he led on TVP1 afternoon edition of “News” – the largest news program in Poland. Today is 30 years old and is associated with the program “Good Morning TVN”, which shows not only backstage life of celebrities, but also reports on important social events. In the spring DDTVN we see original cycle Matthew Hładkiego – “Give yourself a second chance.” The journalist will try to connect people together, where the road suddenly diverged. We meet just after the return of Matthew from the International Film Festival Berlinale.

Journalism – passion, profession, or perhaps an idea for yourself?

I guess everything. It is certainly professional work, because thanks to it I am able to pay within the period installment loans. You have to work hard and firmly to this approach, because contrary to what is commonly believed, television journalists did not earn giant money. I love this profession – not only the lights but also shadows. I feel that thanks to him, and I tend to develop myself happy, so it’s a passion. It’s hard to say in this case the distribution of life on the personal and professional, because really these two spheres intermingle. Successes and failures in work largely affect my self-esteem.

Your self-esteem lowered?

I do not like failures. To a large extent, I define themselves through work. When something does not work out as planned, long time I think about it, I wonder where I made a mistake, I could do better. Many journalists so no. Lack of satisfaction with the work done makes me reservations not only for himself as a journalist.

Are you a perfectionist?

Certainly. Apparently, television counts naturalness. Very often from experienced colleagues I heard that viewers like to slip – because they are “human.” Then they apparently feel that you are not talking robot from the TV, only such samy man like them. I think it’s a bad excuse. Yes, viewers are catching falsehood and artificiality, but expect it from a journalist – like a doctor, lawyer or teacher – professionalism.

I believe that today, part of the radio and TV journalists not pays attention to diction, language. Some people do not think about it presentable. Often abnegaci or cunning ignorant, and sometimes the one and the other. Here they make a mistake, there’s a slip of the tongue and even include another slip-up. Later gravy is all smile and kind for everyone to love them. Each can happen setback, but it can not be the norm.

What are the dark side of journalism?

It is difficult to answer this question. Journalism releases is different from the radio, the radio of television …

Let’s stay with television journalism.

In the case of television journalists, who work on a vision, this is the life for constant casting. Not everything depends on our preparation, whether inflicted by our questions. What is important is whether there is something in us that can irritate the viewer. We have with us a little bit, like with the actors – we can play workshop correctly, but does not have the this thing . Some of us buy, others can not look at us. Often we are not judged for merytorykę.
