This year’s convention of the Republican Party in Cleveland will go down in US history. Contrary to expectations, Texas senator and former presidential candidate Ted Cruz endorsed Trumpowi. Gathered audience reacted to this step by whistles and boos, the governor of New Jersey Chris Christie called it a “heinous and selfish.”
Speech Cruz, who finished second in the primaries was highly awaited by all. Commentators expect, however, that the senator from Texas will support Donald Trump. The more that the unity of the Republican Party was recently put to the test. But it did not happen. The former presidential candidate called billionaire name only once – when I congratulated him on his appointment. Instead of support, Cruz urged everyone to vote in the November elections, “according to conscience.”
Trump supported the majority of the 16 presidential candidates. They did not do this, but Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham and John Kasich. In addition, the first two refused to even participate in the convention. In turn, Kasich appeared in the sidelines, but he did not give an official speech.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the commentators and supporters Trump recalled the pre-election commitment, which a year ago made all Republican presidential candidates – all promised on TV Fox News during the first debate that will support the person who get the party nomination.
