Parliament in first reading, rejected the civic bill banning abortion completely. For rejecting the project voted 206 deputies.
The project was prepared by the Foundation Pro-right to life. The decision was preceded by a heated debate MPs in the Parliament.
During the debate, there was, among others, to mute Kai Godki Foundation Pro right to life and Legislative Initiative Committee, which in the parliament presented the merits of the bill. Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jerzy Wenderlich decided to turn off the microphone, noting Godki to speaking respected people with different views. As for comparing abortion to the practices of totalitarian regimes.
The rejection of the project demanded the deputies PO and the SLD. Further work were in favor of the PiS, PSL and the United Right. However, when the vote rejected the project. Voted to reject the 206 deputies, 178 were against, while 10 abstained.
According to 300polityka.pl service among opposing the rejection of the project was seven deputies platforms – eg Joanna Fabisiak Jacek Tomczak, Miroslaw Pluta – and another four abstained.
Under the civil draft law on total ban on abortion signed by 400,000 citizens. This is the third similar initiative in the last four years.
