Pope Francis has called college of seven cardinals and bishops that the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith will hear appeals against judgments handed down against the clergy sexual abuse – Vatican announced.
– The purpose of this new special committee established under the papal document will speed up procedures – said Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi. Unknown is still part of the college appellate practice aimed at supporting the work of the tribunal of canon, who in the congregation deals with cases of pedophilia among priests.
Father Lombardi told reporters that there are many complex appeals relates specifically to crimes of sexual abuse of minors. – Procedures for their consideration and extend the delay – he admitted.
