The head of the German Ministry of the Interior Thomas de Maiziere has criticized the behavior of police towards danger. In an interview with ARD television the Minister stated that the police can not wait to react to complaints from victims. Cologne police themselves admitted that she had no idea of the events, because officers were busy providing security to participants of organized fun New Year’s Eve.
The true scale of the New Year incidents was disclosed after several days. At the beginning of the year, police ensured that the New Year’s Eve there has been no serious incidents. But on Tuesday the number of women who reported assault, approached the hundreds. At least one of ambushed been raped. Gangs complex – as defined by the police – “the people with the appearance of indicating the origin of the Arab countries” attacked mainly in Cologne, but also in other cities, including Hamburg. According to the victims, immigrant groups surrounded them, valiant them sexually and robbed.
Thomas de Maiziere stressed that in this case there is no room for speculation and pointed out that the authorities must clarify whether they are dealing with perpetrators coming from the latest wave migrants or living in Germany for a long time.

ZDF in a statement said that the lack of current information was a mistake.
