In an interview with the German “Die Welt” European Council President Donald Tusk admitted that Germany, as the current leader of the Union, should assume greater responsibility in connection with the migration crisis.
Tusk described the leadership of Germany as “the most liberal and tolerant throughout European history.” He stressed that Berlin should reckon with other countries on the admission of refugees. – Responsible Leadership also means “together with other countries,” – he stressed.
Once again referred also to the protection of the borders of the European Union.
– I understand that Germany, for historical reasons have difficulty the creation of rigid rules at its borders, but the responsibility for European leadership also means the need for an active and vigorous control the external borders of Europe – he said.
