Duda: NATO must clearly and quickly respond to emerging … – Television Republic

– Today we showed unity, decisiveness, it is clear contribution to the further decisions of NATO – said the Polish president during a joint statement with President Klaus Iohannis Romania. Today Andrzej Duda took part in the meeting of the presidents of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in Bucharest.

At the beginning of a short speech, Andrzej Duda thanked the President of Romania for the preparation of the meeting in which participated today. In Bucharest they met heads of state the eastern flank of NATO – in the talks attended by the presidents of Estonia – Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Latvia – Mr Raimonds VEJONIS, Lithuania – Dalia Grybauskaite, Slovakia – Andrej Kiska, Hungary – Janos Ader, Bulgaria – Rosen Plevneliev, and the head of the lower house of parliament Czech Republic – Jan Hamaczek. – Thank you for the excellent preparation of the meeting and the efficient conduct of such an important event – said Andrzej Duda.

– Nine countries of Central and Eastern Europe, NATO members met in the group of leaders has developed a joint statement, a declaration regarding security purposes stability in Europe and around the world – emphasized the President. – We have shown unity, decisiveness, it is clear contribution to the further decisions of NATO (…) I say this with joy, as well as the host of the next NATO summit in Warsaw – he added.

As emphasized by Andrzej Duda, next year’s meeting NATO countries in Warsaw will be the moment to take concrete decisions directly related to security, but also decisions related to joint military operations. – It will be a meeting of decision-making, where NATO will show unity, but above all show that the Alliance alive, especially in emergency situations from the east and south – he added.

The Polish president said that it is necessary to intensify joint military activities, construction of new infrastructure and the organization of joint activities. – We need military training, improving cooperation between the armies of (…) to a good, clear, rapid response to emerging threats – he added.

– Alliance must adapt to new challenges, history teaches us that the situation is changing, but NATO needs to respond to current events (…) must create a climate of security and create an atmosphere guarantee of peace – said Andrzej Duda.

Today is the third day of the visit of President of Romania. In the afternoon, Andrzej Duda is to make a wreath at the plaque commemorating Marshal Jozef Pilsudski. While in the evening at the Polish embassy in Bucharest scheduled a meeting with representatives of the Polish president.
