Such a demand issued a Latvian Foreign Minister Rihards Kozlovskis during an interview for one of the national television.
The politician said that for realization of investment the country needs four years and 17 million euros. Its aim is to strengthen the state border.
Kozlovskis added that Latvia is struggling with a wave of immigration and is one of the places through which refugees from Wednesday’s Asia and Far East, try to get to the Scandinavian countries.
In his opinion, the construction of the wall on the border with Russia is “more cost-effective and reasonable” solution than an investment in the service of capturing immigrants and deport them to home countries.
According to the Latvian services only in 2015 . stopped at the border 239 illegal immigrants, of which more than 160 came from Vietnam and 20 from Afghanistan. In turn, the length of the Russian-Latvian border is 276 km.
