Today marks 35 years since the signing of the so-called. August Agreements. Agreement in Gdansk on 31 August 1980. Between the government commission and the strike committee and the rise of Solidarity marked the beginning of the 1989 changes: the collapse of communism and the end of the post-Yalta system.
The first point of the famous 21 demands talked about accepting independent of parties and employers free trade unions.
In commemoration of the 35. the anniversary of the August Agreements will be attended by President Andrew Duda. The Head of State will lay flowers in front of Gate No. 2 of the Gdansk Shipyard, and then visit the European Solidarity Centre. In the afternoon, Duda will take part in the meeting in the historic Gdansk Shipyard BHP Hall.
In Gdansk will also present the Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz. At. 9 head of government will lay flowers at the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers of 1970. Then visit the exhibition at the European Solidarity Centre.
On the other hand, Law and Justice deputy planned to visit in Wrzeszcz, where he will lay flowers at the monument of Anna Walentynowicz, the legend of Solidarity.
