Israel threatens Palestinian leaders for war crimes processes – Television Republic

Israel Palestinian leaders threatened litigation “war crimes” if Palestine will join the International Criminal Court. Palestine as a member of the ICC could bring Israeli leaders processes on the basis of the same accusations.

This second possibility has confirmed Professor of Law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, David Krec.

He declared: “Moving people out of the country occupying the territory is considered occupied in accordance with the Rome Statute as a war crime. This could have consequences for every Jewish settlements established after the accession of Palestine to the ICC. “

The Agency AFP, referring to the message passed her on Saturday with” Israeli government sources, “he writes, that Israel threatened to sue before the court, “the high representatives of the Palestinian” for “war crimes.” This message does not specify, however, when it had to happen.

For a few months, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other leading Israeli politicians in numerous statements compare the actions of Hamas in the Gaza Strip to the activities of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, accusing him of “war crimes.”

Israeli politicians accuse Hamas, among others of using civilians as “human shields” during a recent 50-day Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip. Were killed as a result of Israeli bombing and artillery fire over 2,200 Palestinians and 70 Israelis, almost exclusively men.

Formally signing the Rome Statute to enter the ICC would allow the Palestinians to prosecute Israel for war crimes. It is expected that Palestine will be officially accepted in six weeks as a member of the ICC, but the jurisdiction of this court is not retroactive.

The Spanish newspaper “El Pais” predicted in these days that one of the first consequences of contracting in the Palestinian Authority will apply to the ICC by Israel strict economic sanctions since the Oslo peace agreement requires the Palestinians not to approach the international bodies in a “unilateral”, without prior negotiations with the Israeli government.

On Saturday, Israel made the first step for the foreseeable by “El Pais” direction. He decided to freeze the transfer of funds to the PA as “punishment” for the Palestinians decide on accession to the International Criminal Court.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after consulting with his cabinet decided to freeze in January transfer 500 million shekels ( approx. $ 125 million) allocated for the payment of salaries to employees of the Palestinian government at all levels, from the government.
