Kąkolewski was a graduate of the Faculty of Journalism at Warsaw University, where he graduated in 1954. Later he also studied journalism at the University of Strasbourg.
In the years 1964-2004 he was a lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science.
His most famous works include the interview-river with Melchior Wańkowicz entitled “Wańkowicz fortifies” 1973 ” How are you doing up? ” – Interviews with Nazi criminals, as well as “How to die immortal” – about the murder of his wife of Roman Polanski and his friend Wojciech Frykowski.
