Election silence lasts. Tomorrow will choose the president – Television Republic

At midnight began the election silence before tomorrow’s second round of presidential elections. Until the closing of the polling stations are prohibited any form of agitation. What threatens to fracture her?

The Polish electoral system provides for a period of electoral silence, or the last 24 hours preceding the vote, when it is prohibited to conduct election campaign. Are therefore prohibited all forms of agitation which, in accordance with Art. 105 paragraph. 1 Election Code, is “to public inducement or encouragement to vote in a certain way or to vote for a particular candidate’s election committee.”

The ban applies to so all the mass media: television, radio, the Internet. They can also appear no new posters or billboards, do not hang electoral advertising on vehicles. It does not apply, however, ads that were published before the election silence. There is therefore no need to download posters of the pillars of advertising.

The prohibition of agitation associated with electoral silence also applies to any electoral activity involving the convening of meetings, organizing marches and demonstrations, exaggerated speeches and distributing electoral materials. It concerns not only politicians, but also of each citizen.

Violation of election silence is an offense endangered under the threat of fines from 20 zł up to 5 thousand. zł. With much greater punishment must take into account those who before the closure of polling stations shall make public the results of pre-election polls or surveys conducted on voting day. Then the threat of a fine ranges from 500 thousand. zł to 1 million zł.
