Dear President,
Dear visitors!
sincerely, thank you for your presence graces on the summit of the Visegrad four, which I have the honour to be the master here, in Poland, during the Polish presidency of the group on earth anniversary of the tragic magnificent castle in łańcut. But before I begin officially, it’s our meeting, I will begin its traditional welcome instance, beginning on the Summit of the Presidents of the Visegrad Group, I would like the Lord to ask for the uprising, and I wish we observed a minute of silence in memory of Mr. President Michala Kovača, which we yesterday in Bratislava, which was the first post-1989 President of the Slovak Republic.
thank you very much! Moreover, Mr. President Michal Kovač has represented Slovakia among the presidents of the Visegrad Group 20 years ago. It was in 1993-1998, when he held the position of President of Slovakia. Thank you very much for what we were able to honor his memory.
We are gathered here, ladies and gentlemen Presidents, in order for to talk about common issues, in particular – to think abouthow to maximize our role and importance in the European Union. at the same time, we remember that this year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the cooperation within the Visegrad Group. I Think that, first of all, this 25th anniversary is a good opportunity to take stock of the achievements and to point to those issues and areas of cooperation that require our particular interest in the current situation, the Union, in the current situation of security in the current situation of our societies, especially in the framework of the European Union, but also in the world geopolitical. Dynamic development, security and knowing our role within the Euro-Atlantic community – are questions that in my opinion require not only reflection, but also active participation.
When 25 years ago our leaders started cooperation wyszehradzką, the main goal was the integration of our States and peoples in the Euro-Atlantic security structures. This goal was achieved. Today, we all are members of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance. This way the EU and NATO have shown that together we can do more. it is my understanding main message, which flows from the 25-year history of cooperation between our States within the framework of the Visegrad Group.
for will labeling our States and peoples in the bosom of the Euro-Atlantic space of security and prosperity has allowed the radical change in the geopolitical system of the region. So real in the early 90-ies. the threat to our countries stuck in a “grey” security zone between the Western and Eastern part of our continent, gave way to the realization of our national ambition both at political level and at the level of economic, social and cultural. And I must say that without the Visegrad Group, which built the credibility of Central Europe in the eyes of Western allies change our strategic situation would, of course, more difficult.
having Started our cooperation in the beginning of 90-ies. together we community life goals and adaptation. the Goal of the activity was, primarily, because to overcome disparities through the East-West building a strong and modern economies and catch up with the developed countries of Western Europe.
I am convinced that today, as members of the European Union and NATO, we also community approval and activation: the community approval of our cultural identity, our values and traditions and community revitalization potential of our political, economic and social development in favor of enhancing the role of our countries in European structures.
Dear Presidents!
Our unity – the unity of the Visegrad four countries – today is very necessary. Europe is, for a number of problems, of which perhaps the most serious is the prospect of increasing differences. Yes, we want to realize our national goals and aspirations, we want, however, to do it in a common, United Europe. we do Not want Union countries, best and worst, strengths and weaknesses. that is why the Group Wyszehradzka should be today an active and strong supporter of the unity of the Union.
Grace!
this year’s summit of heads of state of the Visegrad Group shows obviously, how great is the variety of topics on which we can and should talk to each other. As presidents of the V4 countries we have the privilege to receive not only current issues that occupy the first pages of Newspapers, but above all, to focus our attention on questions about the importance of the problem, which defines the role and position of our countries in the future, more than a dozen, and maybe even decades. Such issues include the topic about which the subsequent sessions of our meetings and negotiations during the summit of the Visegrad Group.
First, which after some time will come for me to officially open the dedicated the situation of young generations in Central Europe our countries. The dynamic development of our region in the framework of the EU requires a strong to improve the prospects of young Czechs, Hungarians, Slovaks and of course, my fellow Poles. First of all this income, but also in the realm of possibility. Therefore, this discussion not only labour market and government support for families, but the innovation economy research, education and sports tourism. A big role in this discussion leads to the question support for the so-called start-UPS, innovative companies, often created by young people, who with minimal expenses and increase the level of development of national economies.
we Must stop the wave of emigration that affects our society, which steals up to the departure of so many capable and creative young people. we Must do everything to provide them with the prospect of a decent and attractive development in their own homeland. the Realization of this task is today of paramount importance for the growth of the role of our countries in Europe.
Second session dedicated to the question of cultural identity of the European community. In the era of major axiological observations made on the EU level, and, often contentious and tensions at the national level, it is necessary to consider matters: what is the Europe to which we want to belong and we want to protect. What is the basis of the European identity and determines its specificity. At the same time, the question is a reminder of the basics of European civilization whose behaviour is crucial for the successful development of the European community.
the Question of culture and identity, including question of the historical image of our States, which should be constantly developed. Very much, so I’m glad we had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Poles Saving Jews. Family Ulmów in the Brand, the opening of which I had the privilege this year to participate. And proud today, I’ll show you Gentlemen this is very exciting, but at the same time beautiful and modern office.
Finally, the third session is dedicated to security energetycznemu of our States. I would like to consider this issue as particularly approaching our perspectives and positions –
about the regional security of Central Europe as a whole. Our main priority in this area should be holding a real diversification of energy supplies to ensure the stable development of our economies, but above all, the safety of our citizens. the Becomes therefore before us the question of how this process effectively to deepen and which tools have to use. About what we say.
Lordship! Presidents!
against the background of these three above areas of reflection is discussion about the position and role of our region within the framework of the Euro-Atlantic community. We are part of, as in the dimension of the European Union and NATO. We want to cooperate and develop with the benefit and for the benefit of the community, implementing it is also our national goals and aspirations. Also we can have the opportunity to talk during this Summit.
