Excellencies, Dear presidents of the Visegrad Countries,
– your Excellency, Mr. Vice President of the European Commission,
Dear visitors!
Very welcome on a press-conferences on termination of the summit of the Presidents of the Visegrad Group organized during the Polish presidency. Peak, which I, as President of the Republic of Poland the honor to lead. First of all, thank you very much Gentlemen presidents of small and Mr President, for meeting, here, in Poland, in my country, in the beautiful region of Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland. We had two days of very good meetings, good meetings. Yesterday we met at the Palace in łańcut. We talked about things that are important for the future of our countries, our peoples, but also of the European Union. We talked about the future of the young generation, about what to do to in our countries and in the Visegrad countries, young people find opportunities for themselves which in this context, the task of politicians that they are responsible for the future development of society, but especially also for the future of economic development in the country, creating opportunities for young people. We exchanged different kinds of initiatives that are planned or were held in our countries. We talked about the issue just creating opportunities for the young, about policy in relation to families, young to had families, they had children, about how to overcome the demographic problem. But we also talked about the chances of the chances in the field of education.
It was a very good conversation, as I said, each of us imagined how it looks like in his country, which implemented ideas. I think it’s a mutual exchange of experience and ideas on addressing these problems was for all of us very interesting and instructive. We came to the conclusion that I will try to offer in their own countries, our governments proposed the introduction of specific programs to the countries of the Visegrad Group for young realized.
Then we went to the Brand, Museum of Poles Saving Jews during the SECOND world war. Family Ulmów. Thank you Gentlemen presidents small came here today it is a Museum to meet me. Markov for the Polish historical memory, to the coexistence of Polish and Jewish people, very important place. This new Museum opened in March of this year, and I’m glad you Guys were able to see this exhibition, and personally acquainted with this tragic but also beautiful history of coexistence between our peoples, but also on how the Poles tried to support the Jews, saving the lives of many of them, while the dramatic years of the Holocaust, carried out in the German-occupied Polish lands, the German Nazis.
it was the entrance to the debate that we started the second session of the meeting of the Presidents of the Visegrad Group, where we talked about the history of our peoples, where we talked about personality we talked about our shared values and that in this regard, and the path we must take in the framework of the Customs Union. Here we agreed one and all. I think I can say this, namely that we all want the European Countries, but at the same time absolutely can not imagine our homeland and Europe. Now, we want to talk in Europe, in these matters the most important for us, in one voice. We believe that this is our strength and our value, but not only for ourselves.
we Believe that this is also our value for the European Union. I firmly believe that these values that are common and that our people are in themselves, they are of great benefit to the European Union. As talked about this once Father John Paul II, when de facto was convinced the Poles, my countrymen, that we were for joining the EU. Then he said that our nation, with its Christian roots, Europe makes for a great value.
we All believe that it is true that it is our joint action in important matters European, the display of some of our freshness in Europe. Because we have, however, a different story than Western Europe, especially if we are talking about the twentieth century. It is very important that we passed on the experience. With one we all know that the black years of communism, through which passed our peoples, lead to the fact that in our societies is an extremely strong spirit of freedom. So, those experiences have taught us one: to fight with everything that tries to impose on us from outside. This leads to the fact that we have a great desire of self-development that we have a great desire to preserve our values, but we also have a great desire community, in the context of what is in the freedom it gives the European Union. Therefore, we have no doubt that all we want to create that establishing the European community, and we want it functioning as best as possible.
And today, the last item of our meeting, third session, on which with great joy powitałem Mr Vice-President of the European Commission Mr. Marosza Szewczowicza, who is also the Commissioner among the other energy Union. It was a very specific talk on the energy policy of the European Union, but, above all, about the situation in the energy, basically, if we are talking about the gas sector in Central Europe. We talked very specifically about the plans. In our meeting today has taken part G-n the Minister in the office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Piotr Naimski, was attended by the Deputy of the European Parliament, Mr Tomasz poręba and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Gaz-System, Mr. Thomas fuller.
we Talked about the Polish plans, talked about what could be their impact if we are talking about the development of the gas sector and diversification of supply, energy for the future of our part of Europe. We also talked about the question of the planned Nord Stream pipeline 2. And here the position of our countries is mixed, namely, all Presidents maintain that there is no economic justification for investment. And the view that this investment really has a political character, and, above all, that its implementation will violate the possibility of building an effective energy Union in Europe, effective, that is, one which will really guarantee the competitiveness of supply, and, therefore, the actual diversification of gas supply sources to Europe. (…) And there was a very strong stand, especially on the Polish side, that is, for me, as President, Mr. Minister Peter Naimskiego, what you need is diversification of supply, the search for new sources. So how exactly this search for new sources implemented through Poland gazoport in Swinoujscie, which provides the supply of liquefied natural gas LNG from various sources around the world, because you can buy it from various vendors. And so full of competitiveness, if we are talking about prices and terms of delivery. You must also justified the construction of a new pipeline from the Norwegian continental shelf through Denmark to Poland, so we also from the Norwegian supplier was able to get gas for Poland.
we had a Discussion on these topics very carefully. Thank you very much Gentlemen the presidents of the small presence here in Rzeszow, and yesterday in łańcut. Thank you so much for all the votes, which fell into separate sessions, very interesting, very open discussions, in a very friendly atmosphere that shows the excellent cooperation and confirms the excellent cooperation that we, as Presidents of the Visegrad Countries. A big thank You also To the European Commission, Mr. Commissioner, for the presentation today, as they look to the European Commission, in those matters which we have discussed – we are talking about the development of gas infrastructure and future decisions in this area.
Thank you very much again for the meeting and give voice to the Lords presidents small.
