“Spiegel”: There will be a German-Russian government consultations – Television Republic

because of a conflict with Ukraine this year will not be held German-Russian intergovernmental consultations – gave the German daily “Der Spiegel”.

Regular meetings between the two governments, which were attended by Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel, usually held simultaneously with the proceedings of the St. Petersburg Dialogue – existing since 2001 platform for exchange of views with representatives of the two societies.

Due to the attitude of such a meeting in Moscow today (both governments) makes no sense – writes “Der Spiegel”, citing an unnamed source in Berlin.

Petersburg Dialogue to be held as scheduled in late October in Sochi. A number of German NGOs and politicians honor announced, however, that boycott the meeting due to the annexation of Crimea by Russia and its participation in the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Moscow has not agreed to the postponement, as proposed by Berlin.

Germany sharply criticized the Kremlin’s policy towards Ukraine; Merkel spoke out recently against the lifting of sanctions against Russia. At the same time Berlin is of the opinion that you should maintain a dialogue with Moscow.
