Government of Catalonia to 15 October will decide what to do next referendum – Television Republic

Government of Catalonia decides to October 15, or proceed with the referendum for independence – said the spokesman. The government in Madrid is against the referendum.

7,5-millionth of Catalonia, having its own language and produces a fifth of Spanish GDP, has long been trying to disconnect from Madrid. However, the central government considers the referendum scheduled for November 9 illegal and the Constitutional Court suspended the decision of the Government of Catalonia for the plebiscite to time determine whether it is legally binding.

– We can not decide on this until 7 or 8 November – said a spokesman Government Francesc Homs in a radio interview.

Artur Mas, the Prime Minister of Catalonia, is under constant pressure from more radical supporters of secession from Madrid, who are demanding that the government has not looked neither to the central authorities, nor the decisions of the Court Constitutional and conducted a referendum.

In a televised interview on Saturday Mas announced that he had agreed to “take legal, political and institutional initiatives to guarantee the right to decide on the political future of Catalonia”.
