In Africa, abducted Polish missionary – Television Republic

Two days ago in the Central African Republic was abducted Polish missionary in the Diocese of Tarnow, Fr. Matthew Dziedzic – said the director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Fr. Thomas Satin.

– At night, the mission was surrounded by a dozen armed rebels. Initially they wanted to stop the two missionaries, but after negotiations failed to achieve a compromise, and one of them remained on the mission – Fr. Leszek Zielinski, while Fr. Dziedzic was abducted – said Fr. Satin.

He added that the rebels gave up the name of the village where the abducted priest will be held. – Do not hide it, that they mean to name him as one of their leaders, who is currently in prison in Cameroon – said Fr. Satin.

In the case of the abducted in the Central African Republic Polish missionary “there can be no ransom, only to exchange a person for person” – said Fr. Thomas Satin.

Polish missionary, Fr. Matthew Heir of the Diocese of Tarnow, was kidnapped at night on October 13 at Babou by armed rebels to exchange for their imprisoned leader, embedded in a prison in Cameroon – said Fr. Satin.

He added that the situation is like a repeat of what happened a few weeks ago. – The same rebels stopped a few Cameroonians for the same purpose – to replace them as their leader – he noted.

As said by Fr. Satin, the fact of abduction Polish missionary has already informed the papal nuncio in the Central African Republic and the ambassadors of the countries who are there its branches, as well as Polish priest’s superiors and the United Nations.

– They also know this fact to Polish soldiers with the mission EUFOR, stationed in nearby Chad and are ready to help, if available, – said Fr. Satin.

He also stressed that in the case of the kidnapping of Fr. Heir “there can be no ransom, only the exchange of persons per person.”
