About the book The law of God :
The book is a kind of synthesis of presenting the genesis and evolution of the law of God compounds from ancient Greece through the Old Testament, to finally show the development of the doctrine of the three main monotheistic religious systems: Christianity, Judaism and Islam. But the book is also an important voice in the debate about the present. The author re-reads the foundational texts of philosophy and religious thought especially some elements that should stimulate reflection man in the twenty-first century. Our God – Remi Brague says – is no longer a primary legislator (legislator), and our right was completely devoid of holiness, or even the references hooking transcendent elements. Losing the modern man can take from the fact that we live in a world where the only sovereign became imperfect by nature man. Lecturer at the Sorbonne poses the question of how the law devoid of holiness can give meaning to human life.
Dr. Rzegocki Arcade
mature work eminent French philosopher of religion and arabist takes the reader on an interesting journey through three millennia trail idea of divine law.
ks. prof. Franciszek Longchamps de Bérier
Remi Brague describes in his book to understand the idea of the transformation of the divine law. His analysis covers the history of Judaism, Christianity and Islam over three millennia. The book provides in-depth look at the issue through a comprehensive education author, philosopher of religion and arabist whose research interests for many years include m. In. achievements of medieval Jewish philosophers and the Islamic world, the knowledge of which in Poland is often only superficial.
Author of the book:
The thread running through the book I chose the ‘divine right’, as it is important for me that this concept or wording can be found both in the Jewish world, Christian and Muslim; the worlds I had to ask questions to understand the fundamental choices, which in turn they had to make. Divine right turns to be a concept that allows to discover what Judaism, Islam and Christianity, think and know about themselves.
Christianity had a strong influence on politics, in the sense that it created a unique kind of social ties – the Church. For the first time they were purely religious ties, no links of a national character. Society is most often based on natural ties such as kinship, addressing the same territory, to submit the same to you. There is a community in which the rule was not a unifying political sphere. Belonging to the community was based on respect for the law already in Judaism. With the advent of Christianity, but the community was built on faith.
