The German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier warned Russian saboteurs before attempting to attack a strategic Ukrainian port of Mariupol, stressing that it would undermine the agreements entered into on February 12 in Minsk.
Despite the ceasefire, the existing theory to the north of 14 on February 15, the Russian saboteurs Debaltseve took the city from which Ukrainian forces withdrew. Many observers in Ukraine afraid that next goal separatists become Mariupol on the Sea of Azov.
– I hope that after the events of Debaltseve there will be no further attempts by saboteurs aiming to extend their sphere of influence – told reporters Steinmeier after a meeting in Paris with the foreign ministers of Russia, Ukraine and France.
He stressed, however, that if there was an attack on Mariupol “completely altered the basis of findings from Minsk”. “Stanęlibyśmy in the face of the new situation” – warned the German minister. Also drew attention to the “numerous violations of the ceasefire,” reported one and a half weeks after the signing of the Minsk agreements.
– In this context, all parties know that events can quickly accept ablaze again – he said.
According to the German minister, to start withdrawal of heavy weapons, as provided for in the agreements with Minsk, “contribute to respect the ceasefire” and “was the first small step in order to regain confidence between the parties, which are currently completely missing.”
According to the concluded peace agreements in Minsk on the eastern Ukraine on February 15 ceasefire took effect. Then on both sides of the line struggles within 14 days had to be withdrawn heavy weapons and mapped buffer zone with a width of 50 to 70 km.
