Unemployed or working, makes us happy is the same: a sofa and ... - Gazeta Wyborcza

In the middle of researchers TNS Polish and social networking Our class asked more than 31 thousand. Poles about their quality of life.

Where – Other and whether in general – spend their holidays, what they do in their spare time, what they can do if they are happy? Respondents were divided into working and non-working to further determine how much influence the well-being and the state of having a professional activity.

surprising results.

First of all holiday trip is not good for the elect. In 2012, the pleasure of traveling has denied a two-thirds more than half of the employed and unemployed. Although the majority – regardless of the wealth portfolio – liked the national holiday, then every third vacationer has spent at least a few days abroad. – In the general population, one in five working Pole afford to leave under the palm trees. That’s quite a lot – says Krzysztof Siekierski with TNS Poland.

– We domatorami – says Siekierski. – When you get up before the TV, we declare that we like to meet up with friends and something to read (book or magazine). This is the first three favorite activities. Rather, we are not interested in sport. For pleasure it is grown only one-third of the working and non-working fifth. Favorite sports: cycling, running and swimming – says the researcher.

Dorothy Schubert with TNS Poland also notes that there are “sports snobs”. – The likes of the disciplines that require small financial outlay. The more expensive, such as tennis, grown 2 percent. working – he added.

Since no physical activity, it is what we spend the money?

Working mainly on the car. He’s 67 percent. respondents. Then LCD or plasma (62 percent.) And the digital television (58 percent.).

Preferences unemployed are similar. Owning a car declares 50 per cent., Plasma TV 51 per cent., And at the regular fee for digital TV stand half.

Every day our head occupy more mundane expenses. As many as 5 percent. workers declare that they live in poverty and can not afford even the most urgent needs. One-fifth must tighten their belts to last for life, and the third can not afford to spend more. The same people some of the time it is able to allocate an amount to allow for a more expensive purchase. Without a pencil in his hand alive only 8 percent. working.

Since most workers live below the level of their expectations, what they say not working?

To one out of ten is not enough for basic needs. One-third of all time has to recite something to last for the most necessary errands. One quarter somehow make ends meet, but when it comes to plunk more money, there is no where to get it. Relatively not too bad was the fifth of respondents – many people some of the time can not afford the financial madness, and 6 percent. lives with virtually no restrictions.

– remember that this subjective perception test and really only they know what they consider to be basic or higher costs – explains Krzysztof Siekierski.

– For some, life in poverty means hunger for the other – the inability to exchange the TV for a new one. This principle also works the other way. Mature person who has little need for the most part covered by retirement, might well have to say, moreover, truthfully, that does not deny myself anything – adds Siekierski.

Thomas, who for seven years working part time, your level life form called a spore.

– My average monthly salary amounts to 1.6 thousand. z? on hand. How do I pay the bills, is my 700 z? for food, chemicals, medicines, clothes and pleasure, which, as you might imagine, I have a few. The TV gave up when the old broke down and I could not afford a new one. 11-year-old washing machine and a refrigerator bought in the fat years, but they will fall, I do not know what I’ll do. In one installment will not sell me anything, the bank can not loan remains after the family collection. Last time I was forced to do so, when I fell from the computer monitor. Is borrowed from his father and now slowly paying off tens per month. I buy the cheapest things, but new to have a warranty. I am 39 years of age. I live in Warsaw. I once drove the company and earning multiples of the average wage – he says.

After all, Thomas did not feel unhappy. – I wonder why this is happening. I guess just so I limited their needs, that over time I stopped paying attention to the deficits. Besides, we are not wealthy society and I do not feel that my standard of living somehow drastically different from how they are to others – he added.

What about your satisfaction with the life of the respondents said? Among the employed two-thirds (65 percent). Declared that he feels comfortable with this, as it is, and there is little reason to complain. A similar view was more than half of the unemployed (56 percent)..

The biggest difference between the study can be seen when we look at the percentage dissatisfied with life. – Nearly one-fifth of unemployed says that life is definitely or rather dissatisfied. Among the employed, such responses fell two times less – says Dorota Schubert. – In the group of dissatisfied were mainly young people, less educated or working in black. Their mood worsens the difficult situation on the labor market, low wages and the lack of any social security – adds the researcher.

Siekierski concludes: – Although at first glance the differences between working and inoperative are small, they appear and deepen systematically. Even if you do not like your job, it is thanks to her – unwittingly – we feel more fulfilled, more realistic expectations juxtaposed needs, which reduces attitude of entitlement, especially at the level of the expected ownership of goods. We have a greater sense of control over what is happening around us, and willing to take the initiative to change things for the better.

Then where low score purchasing power of households

– Because I like a moan and belittle what we have. It is a rule that subjects underestimate their income – Dorothy Schubert explains. – Although our needs are artificially created by advertising, a sense of failure becomes quite real. No help or ways of life patterns presented on television, and we know that some Poles are staring at her.

Polish Barometer survey conducted Employee technique CAWI between May and October 2013, the Group employed and unemployed amounted to little more than 15 thousand., including the respondents was 31 thousand. In the group of the unemployed were unemployed, pensioners, young learner and housewives.
