CES 2014: LG will show 105-inch curved 4K TV - Virtual Poland

At CES in Las Vegas, LG Electronics will show the world’s first Ultra HD TV with a curved screen in 21:9 format (model 105UB9). It is also the first Ultra HD TV with a curved screen and so far the largest.

Curved UHD screen with a resolution of 11 megapixels (5120 x 2160) allows for the reproduction of the finest details, and its focus is emphasized realism reception. 105UB9 model is equipped with a CinemaScope screen with 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio, so that allows perfect reproduction of movies. Another advantage of expanded screen is able to display information about the program, without the need to interrupt viewing the broadcast.

In order to obtain the appropriate curvature of the screen, a new technology that allows to address several technical issues – such as the maintenance of structural integrity, and to ensure uniform color and brightness over the entire surface of such a large display. So far, in the curved screen TVs, OLED panels were preferred because they themselves are light sources. LG Display overcame the difficulties of possible non-uniform illumination thanks to improved technology TFT panels, which prevents discoloration and makes the picture appear virtually every angle.
